Don’t some of the most wonderful stories begin somewhere part-way through a conversation of supporting characters? The reader’s mind desperately scrambles to both listen to the unfolding events and discern why the dialouge is taking place. So much is unknown: the location, the direction, even who it is who’s talking!
No? Well, that’s pretty much how this works out.
I enjoy being a somebody, but even somebodies have to be unknown every once in a great while. Fame is expensive, but anonimity is priceless.
